Uses of Technical Grade Urea :

Technical Grade Urea have several uses in various industries. Some of its prime uses are as follows :

Urea is a raw material for the manufacture of two main classes of materials: urea-formaldehyde resins and urea melamine formaldehyde which is used in plywood and particle board industries.
Urea can be used to make urea nitrate , a high explosive that is used industrially and as part of some improvised explosive devices. It is a stabilizer in nitrocellulose explosive.
Urea is used in SNCR & SCR reaction to reduce the NOx pollutants in exhaust gas rom combustion rom diesel, dual fuel, and lean-burn natural gas engines.
Urea in concentrations up to 10 M is a powerful protein denaturant as it disrupts the non covalent bonds in the proteins. This property can be exploited to increase the solubility of some proteins. A mixture of urea and choline chloride is used as a deep eutectic solvent, a type of ionic liquid.
Urea containing creams are used as topical dermatological products to promote rehydration of the skin. Like saline, urea injection has previously been used to perform abortion.
